Fruitsland Masks
After Rachel and I finished eating at Pa Pa Walk, we decided to cross Valley Blvd and explore Focus Plaza, home to Asian goodness. In the center of the plaza lies the Focus department store. It's seriously a treasure trove: makeup and home products on the first floor, clothes on the second, jewelry on the third, and a restaurant on the fourth!
I've always wanted to try facial masks. I mean, a facial at the beauty salon is nice and all, but after a while, all that adds up. And in a month, I will be a poor college student--$40 facials are no longer an option. So while perusing the aisles of the makeup section, Rachel and I decided to try out some Fruitsland masks. They were being sold for $0.50 each; of course, I had to snag a few. There are plenty of different fruits and vegetables you can choose -- potatoes, apricots, green beans... Each fruit/vegetable claims to do different things, so read the back before you buy.
Since I had never heard of these before, I decided to be safe and bought a cucumber (for skin elasticity) and apricot (for skin purity). I've only tried the cucumber one so far.
It claims it is a "firming and clarifying Peel Off type pack with vitamin A, C, and a variety of minerals that renews dull skin caused by sunlight and a polluted environment." The directions are simple: Apply a suitable amount all over your face except for your eyes and lips. When dried completely (about 10-15 min), remove from the bottom to the top and finish with moisturizer.
You'll be surprised how much gel is in the tiny package. Maybe it was because I packed on too much gel because the mask took a lot longer than the estimated time to dry. It probably took about double the time before I could touch my face without getting gel stuck on my fingers. At first it had a nice refreshing cucumber scent when I slathered it on, but I soon got sick of the smell. What's interesting it that when it dries, the mask dries shiny.
All of the Fruitsland masks are clear gels that are meant to be peeled off. Whenever I get facials, most of my masks are gentle peel off ones, so I thought this would be the same too. I THOUGHT WRONG. This one hurt so much. I was seriously ripping it off of my face. It also got stuck in my hair which was a pain to remove (but that was probably because I wasn't careful enough).
Bottom line: While it did leave my face feeling nice and refreshed, the cons totally outweighed the pro. (Yes, just one good thing about it.) If you're fond of ripping off your skin, buy it. Otherwise, stay far far away. I'm glad these things were cheap; after I use my other pack, I'm never trying another one again.
